Dripping in equal measures of talent, bars, bravado and empowerment; Alika releases today, her long-awaited debut EP, titled Wiz.
A 6-track offering, Wiz exudes the dexterous flow and sure-footed smart bars that have fast become synonymous with Alika. A name amongst those in the know since she won the prestigious UnSung Award at the MOBO’s back in 2016, it's no wonder Alika has garnered an impressive roll call of talent to feature alongside, on her debut EP.
Representing Alika’s native West London are both Big Zuu and Br3nya, alongside two of the leading female names emerging from the scene, Trillary Banks and newcomer Courtney Bennett. A fusion of both the multicultural London and musical genres - r&b, hiphop, grime, garage and dance - that inspired Alika when growing up; Wiz captures the eclectic sounds and sides of Alika.
Breakthrough British artist Arlo Parks has shared her brand new single ‘Hurt’, alongside its accompanying music video.
'Hurt' - premiered as the Hottest Record on Annie Mac's BBC 1 Radio show - is a beautifully spun track that fills the room with emotion in the way only Arlo can, her soft vocals amplified by a powerful spoken word interlude as the song progresses.
Arlo says about the track, "'Hurt' surrounds the possibility of healing from pain and the temporary nature of suffering. It is supposed to uplift and comfort those going through hard times."
